Holy moly – I am SUPER pumped by the fact that I created a replica of the infamous (& terrible for you) Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte. I had my first sip, ready to pour it down the drain and have to try another version, and to my utter surprise it tasted just like the pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks!!! Except, there are NO bad ingredients in it, no cow’s milk, no gluten, and no preservatives!
If you’ve ever heard of the food blogger, “The Food Babe”, she tends to shine some serious light on popular foods and just what’s in them. She did the same with the pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks and I think you’ll be shocked at what you see:
But, you don’t want to miss out on the delicious-ness, do you? Of course not 🙂 Before we get into the recipe, here are a few things you should know:
Pumpkin is full of Beta Carotene, a precursor to Vitamin A. (Anything orange tends to be!). It’s also a great source of magnesium, zinc and potassium. This is the one that I used!
Cinnamon is a great blood sugar balancer, and has been shown to lower blood sugar levels in diabetics.
Raw honey (unpasteurized) is anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory. That’s why it works well to apply on burns on your skin, so imagine how good it is for your insides! With cold and flu season upon us, adding a tiny bit of raw honey to your homemade lattes is a great idea to fend off the bacteria!
