The PEARfect Breakfast Smoothie

When it comes to smoothies, people often make some common mistakes. One of those is having too much sugar, even from fruit, in their smoothie. That’s why I love this particular recipe.

Pears are a low glycemic fruit, meaning they don’t spike your blood sugar as much as other fruit. They are also high in both soluble and insoluble fiber. The cinnamon adds a nice flavour, while also providing anti-microbial benefits. Lastly, you can’t forget to add a healthy fat to your smoothie – in this case hemp hearts. Hemp hearts have the ideal ratio of Omega 6:3 at 2:1, and have 10g of protein per serving.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pear
  • 1 tbsp hemp hearts
  • 2 cups spinach
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp ground flax seed
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • 1 cup ice cubes

Directions:

  1. Blend all ingredients and enjoy!
