Did you know a shocking 90% of cardiovascular disease (CVD) is preventable through diet and lifestyle? February is Heart Health Month and given how prevalent (and preventable) heart disease is, we love supporting employees with healthy heart info!
While diet and exercise are huge factors in preventing and reversing CVD, an often overlooked area is stress. Studies have demonstrated that both cumulative exposure to daily stressors and exposure to traumatic stress can increase the risk of CVD.
According to Harvard U Health, a simple way to reduce daily stress is mindfulness. Meditation and mindfulness produce positive changes in brain activity. They can also lower your heart rate, blood pressure, breathing rate, oxygen consumption, adrenaline levels, and levels of cortisol, a hormone released in response to stress. People who practice meditation are significantly less likely to have a heart attack or stroke or die within five years - wow!
That’s one of the reasons we have a variety of super quick, super effective meditations in our wellness platform. To give you a sneak peek, we are sharing one of the most popular with you: A 6-Minute Stress Reset Meditation.
Another way to support your employees during February’s Heart Health month is with our lunch and learn or webinar, Healthy Heart, Healthy You, Through Nutrition. In this session, your employees will walk away with the following knowledge:
