Chocolate Strawberry Smoothie

Happy Valentine’s Week! 🙂

I know there are a few people who don’t love this holiday, but I’m feeling pretty lovey-dovey these days, and well, wanted a new smoothie recipe!  There is nothing better than chocolate dipped strawberries, right? This recipe is the healthified, smoothie version of a chocolate dipped strawberry.

Chocolate Strawberry Smoothie from Healthy Eating and Living You’ll notice that I LOVE using raw cacao in my smoothies, so wanted to remind you that it’s a great source of magnesium, is an amazing source of antioxidants and since we’re talking Valentine’s Day, it’s also a wonderful aphrodisiac!  I used the Giddy YoYo raw cacao, which is especially awesome because it’s free of mycotoxins, meaning it won’t give you the ‘jitters’ like some chocolate does. Don’t forget that if you don’t use the ‘raw’ cacao, you’re missing out on the majority of the health benefits!

Just a reminder that I make my smoothies with very little sugar…if you want to sweeten it up  a bit, I recommend adding a tablespoon of maple syrup or raw honey.  This makes 2 servings.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups frozen strawberries
  • 1 TBSP raw cacao powder
  • 1 scoop protein powder (I used chocolate Sunwarrior)
  • 2 cups almond milk, vanilla unsweetened
  • ½ avocado
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • Handful of greens
  • Optional: maple syrup/raw honey to sweeten
  • Optional: ice cubes (if your strawberries aren't frozen)

Directions:

  1. Blend all ingredients until smooth
